Enterprise Funding Corp. Finances Top SBA Honorees for Small Business Week

Every year, the Small Business Administration (SBA) honors exceptional small business owners during Small Business Week. The top honors for the Santa Ana District in 2017 went to two small businesses that, at Enterprise Funding Corp., we have had the great privilege to get to know very well during the process of financing their SBA 504 loans. Greg and Julie Christy of Brite Ideas in Orange County took top honor as Small Business Persons of the Year, and John (Jay) Jeffs of Jayco Industries, LLC in the High Desert has been honored as Small Business Person of the Year Finalist.

Greg and Julie Christy of Brite Ideas, a lighting and event company in Rancho Santa Margarita, have a truly amazing story that begins when Greg showed up to a former employer for work one day only to find the doors locked and no explanation. Suddenly without work, and with a customer having been promised a fully-produced event the following day, Greg decided to take action. In agreement with his wife, Julie, Greg called the customer to explain the situation and offered to take on the job himself. The next day, they rented all the necessary equipment, packed up their Chevy Astrovan, and Brite Ideas was born. Fast-forward to 2014, when the Christy’s contacted Enterprise Funding Corporation for a commercial mortgage. They were growing substantially and needed a larger building as well as financing for renovations and updated equipment. We were able to assist them with all of their needs using the SBA 504 loan. The $1,563,000 loan helped them purchase and renovate a 24,000 square-foot building in a perfectly centralized location for their business needs. John (Jay) Jeffs of Jayco Industries began his business in 1986 in the High Desert area, repairing and installing mailboxes for local residents. In 1992, Jeffs began manufacturing and selling his own patented locking mailbox, The Letter Locker®, in the local region. In 2009, Jeffs filed for another patent on a different mailbox locking mechanism, The Claw Lock®. Jeffs made the decision to expand his business to incorporate the San Diego region of Southern California to facilitate servicing the company’s growing customer base. In 2015, Jeffs approached Enterprise Funding Corp for help to finance a commercial real estate purchase that included a 3,000 square-foot building on 8,800 square feet of land. With the assistance of an SBA 504 loan, he was able to obtain 90% financing of a $588,500 project to acquire the building and land. This provided Jayco with the ability to store, on-site, necessary concrete slabs that are manufactured and shipped from Apple Valley in the High Desert to the San Diego area. The small business loan has allowed Jayco to add 5 new jobs to the local economy.
